A estrela de glee, Lea Michele, e de God of Carnage, Jeff Daniels, anunciaram as nomeações para o 64th Annual Tony Awards em 4 de maio no New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

Chegando no topo da longa lista de homenageados está novo musical Fela! Que recebeu 11 indicações, incluindo Melhor Musical. Com oito nomeações, Memphis foi o único outro altamente reconhecido novo musical. Os restantes dois candidatos a Melhor Musical são American Idiot e Million Dollar Quartet, que receberam três indicações cada.

Bem-recebidos foram os revivals de Fences e do musical La Cage aux Folles (A Gaiola das Loucas), dois shows que originalmente tinham suas sessões na Broadway ao lado um do outro, em meados da década de 1980.  A cerimônia de entrega dos prêmios acontece em 13 de Junho.
